Sherri Lynn Olivier (nee Johannesson) was born in Winnipeg on March 17, 1956. She grew up in the West End and attended school at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. It was there she met the love of her life David. Shortly after she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba she and David were married. Sherri worked several years at the Health Sciences Centre conducting research in the Department of Immunology.

After five years of marriage Sherri's first son Justin was born followed shortly after by Todd, Cory, and Steven. After four boys, Sherri's beautiful daughter Jenna arrived which completed her family.

Sherri was an exceptionally bright light in both mind and spirit. Her interests included sports, gardening, baking, music, the outdoors and her pets. Sherri loved her cabin at the lake and the time she spent there with her family. She loved to golf and to travel with her family, particularly the trips where she could listen to the sounds of the ocean.

Sherri was a generous person who had a great sense of commitment to community. She demonstrated this through her involvement with her children's hockey and soccer teams and the countless kilometers she drove every month. Sherri treated everyone with respect and dignity and welcomed everyone into her home and her life. She had an open heart and found beauty in all people.

In late December 2004, Sherri suddenly suffered a stroke and passed away a few days later on December 31. Family and friends were shocked and saddened by this tragedy that so quickly befell this young and healthy mother of five. Searching for a way to continue Sherri's legacy of love and compassion, a charitable committee was set up in Sherri's name in order to help stroke victims and others in need.

Sherri has been described as her family's compass that kept them grounded through good times and bad. Her husband and children will remember her for the love she gave them and the millions of wonderful memories that she has left them with. The family knows that there are no goodbyes, rather just a wait until they meet again. We are forever grateful to God for the gift of knowing and loving Sherri and the privilege to be blessed with her presence in our lives.
